Robin Ducey Watercolors

Artist Biography

                                                            Artist Statement

I have lived on the scenic Upper Delaware River for more than forty years and I find that the river valley and and the surrounding area have a special atmosphere and a unique beauty. I try to capture that beauty and communicate that special energy in all of my paintings. The watercolor medium suits my aim with its translucent, vibrant colors that can capture sunlight on water, mountains and snow so precisely.

I spend many hours boating on the river or sitting by its banks, or walking through the woods and fields by the river. My sons are avid trout fishermen and kyack experts.

I paint on location much of the time and use photographs as a reference when painting in my studio. I try to capture the rolling hills, weathered barns and bridges and the lovely river itself.

I paint exclusively on 300 lb. cold-pressed Kilmanjaro bright white paper which makes the colors shine and has a wonderful texture for representing water and landscapes.
